Similar to many stories of young entrepreneurs who dare to venture against all odds, the journey of Future City Summit begans on the campus of The University of Hong Kong(HKU), with a group of dedicated scholars and social entrepreneurs back in 2016. We mulled over the question of where and how Hong Kong, an once well-known fast growing matured resilient city, can play an inspiring role to drive a movement of urban resilience, with urban technologies, development policies, rich human capitals and a legendary melting pot of culture and nationalities.
With the support of Vice President Office’s Global Partnership Seed Fund in HKU, Future City Summit was born in February 2016 with a simple deck and an idea.
“Some people sow, some people water. While some people plough a landscape of future that excites us”
Future City Summit is a dedicated annual meet which assembles young leaders from public and private sectors to accelerate action collaboration for reshaping the cities we feel harmonious and resilient to live in.
We pledge to foster 100 future and better cities in emerging Asia and Africa in the next 10 years, driving by the set of values and development agenda during the Summit, including Network of City Partners, Emerging Future Cities Network, Roadshow for Good Cities, Future Workforce Policy Interest Group and Development Programs Series “Public Private Partnership by Youth”.
